Scientific Recognition for iLearn4Health: Gamification in Health Education

The iLearn4Health project continues to receive recognition in the scientific community, with its latest research findings published in a high-impact journal. A scientific article titled “Gamified Health Promotion in Schools: The Integration of Neuropsychological Aspects and CBT—A Systematic Review”, authored by Professor Apostolos Vantarakis and his team, has been published in the Medicina MDPI Journal (Q1, Scopus-indexed). This publication highlights the effectiveness of gamified approaches in promoting health education among students and further solidifies the impact of the project’s work.
The study systematically reviews how gamification, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and neuropsychological principles can be integrated into health education in schools. By analysing 56 research studies, the article demonstrates the significant impact of gamified interventions on students’ mental health, emotional regulation, and cognitive flexibility. Findings suggest that well-structured digital learning tools can enhance students’ motivation, reduce anxiety and stress, and improve overall well-being.
One of the key aspects of this research is the focus on how digital game-based learning can reinforce positive behavioural changes. Gamification elements such as real-time feedback, interactive storytelling, and progressive challenges help students develop essential skills in emotional self-regulation and cognitive control. The study emphasizes that integrating CBT techniques into digital interventions can support students in adopting long-term healthy habits and coping mechanisms.
This publication is a major milestone for iLearn4Health, reinforcing its commitment to innovative and evidence-based health education. By bridging the gap between education, psychology, and technology, the project aims to provide educators with effective tools to enhance student learning experiences. The article serves as an important resource for researchers, policymakers, and educators who wish to explore the potential of gamified health education in school settings.
